The Board

The Information Standards Board (ISB) meets approximately 6 times a year with other meetings of sub-groups as appropriate.

The Board is led by an Independent Chair – Dorian Bradley. As well as chairing meetings, his key responsibilities will be to:

  • Promote agreement between the bodies and individuals represented on the Board, facilitating action to resolve differences where required.
  • Provide oversight of ISB activities, ensuring that it provides effective and efficient governance.
  • Represent the ISB externally: for example with DfE/BIS ministers and directors, OGDs and industry.
  • Ensure Board members act in accordance with Nolan’s seven principles of public life and relevant laws and regulations.

All ISB members have an equal role on the Board. Participation provides colleagues with an insight into how policy and strategy around standards is developed system-wide and an opportunity to exchange ideas and best practice.

The members of the ISB are drawn from key players from across the education, skills and children’s services system. See Profiles for information on the Board members.
